BACKGROUND

PHOTOSHOP

I did LOTS of things in photoshop to create this image..some of the more mentionable ones are as following...

Masking- I created a layer mask for every image within this graphic, in order to lay it on the "floor"

Adjustments- I edited the contrast/ exposure/ saturation of most of the images on this cover so they all looked cohesive together.

FONTS / CREDITS

The font I used is called "Attic Antique" which I used because it looks old and "pirate-y"

All images used in this book cover are pictures I've taken myself.

Created a cover for the book "Treasure Island"

DESIGN

CONTRAST: When putting this together I knew I wanted a dark background. The images are all brighter and I wanted a contrast to make them stand out.

ALIGNMENT: I used a flush left alignment for the title "Treasure Island". Initially the author was lined up with them as well but I thought It looked better a little farther to the left so thats what we went with.

Repetition:  For repetition I took the color of the piece of paper and made that the color of the title. I did this so it would tie the image and title together and make it look like these items belong together.

PROXIMITY: In terms of proximity I made sure to put the rum bottle and the "black spot" right next to each other. As important symbols of the book, I intentionally made them the focus of the cover and close.
